SPINACH TOMATO WHOLE WHEAT GARLIC LOAF

This is a super healthy and tasty bread recipe. Used whole wheat flour and very less all purpose flour. No artificial colour is used here. The green colour is from spinach and red colour is from tomato and red chili powder. I have tried to make it more healthier for kids by using these natural ingredients. Also topped with flax seeds and sesame seeds to increase the nutritious value of the loaf.

🧺 Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Flour2 1/2 cups
  • All Purpose Flour (Maida)1/2 cup
  • Sugar1 tbsp
  • Salt2 tsp
  • Active Dry Yeast2 tsp
  • lukewarm milk150 ml
  • Butter2 tbsp
  • 1 cup Spinach pure1 cup
  • Tomato Purée1 cup
  • Oregano2 tsp
  • Mixed Herbs2 tsp
  • kasmiri red chili powder1 tsp
  • Garlic Paste2 tsp
  • For brushing Milk
  • For brushing Butter
  • Flax seeds1 tsp
  • Sesame Seeds1 tsp

👨‍🍳 Method — step by step

For the green paste:

Heat oil in a pan and add garlic paste 1 tsp.

Add the spinach puree, oregano, mixed herb 1 tsp each. Add salt to taste.

Cook until water evaporates. Green paste is ready.

For the red paste:

Heat oil in a pan. Add 1 tsp garlic paste.

Add the tomato puree, oregano, mixed herb, red chili powder and salt to taste.

Cook until water evaporates.

In a bowl take lukewarm milk, sugar and yeast and keep covered for 10 minutes.

In a big bowl take whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, salt, butter and active dry yeast mixture.

Start assembling together. After 5 minutes of kneading divide the dough in 3 parts.

In one part add the tomato paste, another part mix the spinach paste and the last one keep as it is.

knead all three parts separately until soft and elastic. Keep covered in bowls for 1 hour to rise.

After 1 hour divide each dough into 2 parts and roll them like chappati. Now place one chappati over another.

Start rolling from one side to form a log.

Prepare a loaf pan with butter paper and place the prepared loaf for 2nd rising.

Preheat oven at 180C for 10 minutes. After 2nd rise top the bread with flax seeds and sesame seeds to make it more healthier.

Brush with milk and bake 25-30 minutes or top turns golden brown. Take out from oven, brush with butter and enjoy. Will definitely change the colour of your breakfast table for sure.
